While Valentines Day is supposed to be a time of celebration of the couple and of their love for one another, it can be filled with anxiety and worry. Usually this anxiety stems from worries about gift giving on the day. Gift giving is not meant to be anxiety producing, in fact it should be viewed as an opportunity to express your love. While this season's competitors do seem to be stronger than in past seasons, it has become increasingly obvious who are the contenders are who are here for their 15 minutes of fame. It's almost embarrassing now for most of the contestants. Anyhow much like last week's episode this one was quite a snooze slow cooker pork belly from start to finish.

We didn't know what food we would be eating as the chef, Shannon Bennett, decides the menu on the day. Once we are seated at our table we are asked if anyone has any food allergies or what people will and won't eat. In our group we had one person who is lactose intolerant, me, a few who are vegetarian and a major pork belly grits eater.

In the Quick Fire Challenge, the chefs were tasked with using plantains to prepare two versions of fruituras (beach side fritters) for hostess, Padma and guest judge, famed Puerto Rican chef, Wilo Bennet. Stephanie mixed her plantain tortone with seared tuna for one variety and made a slow cooked pork belly and shrimp fritter with brown butter, basil, and lime for the other.

For dessert, we tried the Trio S'mores, which is obviously not your average s'more! The homemade graham crackers were sweet and crunch, the fresh marshmellow melted to perfection and the milk chocolate ganache rich and decadent. The dessert also comes with graham-flavored homemade ice cream. Blue Bell, take note, this flavor is amazing!

Local's bustling patio can be seen from Sunset and always looks inviting. In the morning little brunch bunches unite from the neighborhood. A sense of getting together and fresh food and kindness make it what it is. And what it is is sweet and savory. It is tired eyes waking up to start the day.
